Daughter of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Samia Nkrumah, has declared the grounds are fertile for merger talks with the People’s National Convention (PNC) and other political parties of Nkrumahist lineage.

Divisions in their front have remained their biggest bane with talks for mergers always breaking down at advanced stages.

Samia Nkrumah, who is contesting for the CPP flagbearership has, however, said she is poised for a possible merger to strengthen their front for the 2016 General Elections.

Speaking to Class News, she said: “I have always been pro-unity. I have invested heavily in negotiations to unite both parties.”

“In the by-elections in Talensi, I campaigned vigorously with the PNC candidate. For the first time, CPP and PNC candidates were campaigning as one party.”

“I am speaking from experience when I say our activists are united on the ground. For me, that is the most important thing because that means that sooner or later, unity will become a fact.”

“We do not necessarily have to wait for this formal agreement on paper. The most important thing is that we campaign with each other on the ground.”

Ms. Nkrumah said, after electing their flagbearers, the CPP will see how they can collaborate with the Nkrumahist parties, beginning with the PNC to start with.
