The Supreme Court in Accra on November 18, found 17 respondents of Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) guilty of contempt for celebrating this year?s peace festival of the church at Gomoa Eshiem, in Central

In lieu of imprisonments the respondents were fined GH? 5,000 each and were given 14 days to pay or in default serve three months in hard labour.

The respondents were further ordered to execute bonds as individuals by which they agreed to be of good behavior for two years.

That aside the respondents were ordered to pay a cost of GH? 10,000.

The judgement was in favour of the applicant; Prophet Miritaiah Jonah Jehu-Appiah against Prophet MocknaJeeba Fiifi Jehu- Appiah and 16 other respondents.

The court that constituted Justices Mrs Sophia Adinyira, A.A. Benin, Anin-Yeboah, P. K. Baffoe Bonnie and J.B Akamba said after considering the affidavits and statements of case they found a prima facie case of contempt against the respondents.

Mr Alex Abban, Lawyer, for the respondents apologised on behalf of his clients for bringing the court into disrepute and prayed the court to deal leniently with the respondents.

Mr Gustav Addington, Lawyer for the applicant however argued that the action of the respondents was deliberate and asked for custodial sentence.
