Court remands man over robbery

A man, who together with four others on the run, allegedly attacked patrons of a bar at Ash-Town, Kumasi, with cutlasses and robbed them of their money and mobile phones was on Wednesday, remanded by a Circuit Court.

Richard Owusu, alias “Kofi Diawuo”, has been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.  He pleaded not guilty and was ordered by the court, presided over by Mrs. Mary Nsenkyire to make his next appearance on Tuesday, July 25.
Police Chief Inspector Timothy Amoako said the crime was committed on December 04, last year.

Owusu and his fugitive accomplices – Escobar, Kumakuma, Ngozi and Cisco, armed with cutlasses and knives, reportedly seized US$2,000.00 and Nokia tablet from the husband of the bar operator, Patrick Kwabena Kyere.
One of the patrons, Prosper Zabre, was robbed of his Techno phone and cash of GH?50.00 while another patron, Tweneboa Kodua, who at the time was not carrying either money or phone on him, was savagely beaten.

The prosecution said the police got wind of the attack and quickly moved to the place, where they arrested the accused with a large bladed knife.
The four others, however, managed to slip through.
