An Accra Circuit Court has remanded one Henry Kwachie, 37, into police custody for allegedly pestering his ex-girlfriend to return into a relationship she is said to have no interest in any longer.

The accused who is unemployed, is facing charges of sexual harassment and threat of death.

When the case was called in the court presided over by Ms Sedinam Agbemeva, the accused person pleaded not guilty and was remanded to reappear on May 25.

The prosecutor, Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbiri, said the complainant, aged 17, is a student who lives off Spintex Road, Accra, with her mother and the accused in the same vicinity.

He said Kwachie is in a relationship with the aunt of the complainant, noting that during the year 2010, she (complainant) alleged that the accused person engaged her in a sexual relationship ? although he was befriending her aunt.

According to D. Inspector Atimbiri, in 2012, the complainant told the accused person that she was no longer interested in the relationship but Kwachie did not agree and rather started chasing her (complainant) about and calling her on her cellular phone all the time.

He further told the court that at about 5: 30 pm on February 14, 2013, Kwachie met the complainant at a bus stop and threatened her with the words ?I will kill you if you try to take another guy?.

In view of this, the prosecution said, the complainant became frightened and reported the case to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service, which led to the arrest of the accused person.
