A vulcanizer at Kronum in Kumasi, who allegedly stole a Toyota Corolla taxi, gave it a new coat of paint and offered it for sale has been arrested.
Sina Amadu was on Friday put before a Kumasi Circuit Court and pleaded not guilty.
He was granted GHC 80,000.00 bail with two sureties. He was additionally ordered to report to the police on every Wednesday.
He would be making his next appearance on July 26. Police Chief Inspector Felix Akowuah told the court presided over by Mr. Ekow Mensah that the crime was committed in January, last year.
The car had been parked at a Goil Filling Station in the night and the ignition key given to the security man on duty, Kwaku Nyarko.
Strangely, the taxi was found missing the next morning and Nyarko was arrested and arraigned to answer a charge of theft.
The prosecution said while the trial was ongoing the owner of the car spotted it in Sunyani on April 15, this year, with Amadu behind the steering wheel and caused his arrest.
In his caution statement, he admitted stealing the car.
