It said as part of activities marking the day, there would be an interactive panel discussion in Geneva on how to harness the newly adopted 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda to deliver on decent work for women.

It noted that the panel would discuss new approaches to promoting gender equality, ending all forms of discrimination against women in the world of work, and achieving full and productive employment and decent work for all by 2030 under the Sustainable Development Agenda.

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

International Women’s Day (IWD) has been observed since in the early 1900’s – a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growths and the rise of radical ideologies.
