A contractor has appealed to labour unions to call off the industrial action in the supreme interest of the nation and dialogue with the government.

wpid-strike.jpgAlhaji Abdallah Ahmed-Abdallah, the Chief Executive Officer of PMC Africa Limited, told the GNA in an interview that commitment was required from both the government and labour unions to resolve disputes.

Labour unions declared an indefinite strike from October 22 until government releases to fund managers their tier two pension contributions lodged with the Bank of Ghana.

Alhaji Ahmed-Abdallah described the situation as unfortunate, saying the labour unions might have genuine concerns but the strike would cause the country dearly if it continued.

When the GNA visited some junior and senior high schools in the Sunyani Municipality on Wednesday a lot of teachers were absent.

Some few teachers seen in the schools were not teaching and a number of school children were also seen in their uniforms roaming on streets.

At the Regional and Municipal hospitals some nurses were seen attending to clients at the Out -Patient Departments.
