Juaben (Ash), March 26, GNA – There were violent scenes at a biometric voter registration centre at Juaben in the Ejisu-Juaben Constituency following an attempt by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Women Organiser to photograph applicants standing in a queue.

The lady, whose name was given only as Gloria, was said to have arrived at the Methodist Primary School Centre in a pick-up, carrying a camera and in the company of a body builder (machoman).

Immediately she got down, she allegedly started taking pictures of the applicants, drawing strong protestations from the people.

One Kofi Dokyi attempted to forcibly seize the camera but she allegedly bit him and was rushed to the Juaben Government Hospital for treatment.

The machoman was said to have attacked some of the youth who fought back.

It took the intervention of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Kwaku Afrifa Yamoah Ponko and the Municipal Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police Stephen Amoah, to restore calm for the process to continue.

The MCE condemned the incident and vowed that the municipal security committee would do everything to ensure smooth voter registration.

Meanwhile, police officers had been deployed at the centre to maintain law and order.
