Fellow Ghanaians, there is no denying the fact that the success of Ghana in its development trajectories depends on the success and embeddedness of its democratic institutions. It depends on the strength of the Legislature, the Executive and the Judiciary. It depends on the strength of the opposition ? it depends on the NPP as the largest opposition party in Ghana. It depends on how ?inclusive? the largest opposition party is. It depends on Nana Addo and his preparedness to accept dissenting and divergent views from within and without the NPP party.

As ?Concerned Ghanaians? in the UK, we feel that Nana Akufo-Addo?s current tribalistic posture and ruthless ambition to political power is inimical to the very foundations of democratic governance not just within the NPP but also in Ghana as a whole.

Recent events within the NPP make manifest the fact that Nana Akufo-Addo is prepared to use every unethical means to win power in Ghana. While we appreciate that events on the political landscape in Ghana require the input of the NPP as the largest opposition party in the country, we disapprove of Nana Addo?s rather unethical approach to political power. For example, is the deafening silence of Nana Addo on the tribalistic and ethnocentric comments made by one of his confidantes (Yaw Osafo Marfo) an approval of such sentiments?

We are threrfore by this statement making it unequivocally clear that for the peaceful and democratic development of Ghana, violence, Tribalism and the militant approach to politics must be eschewed. We only have one country and that is Ghana. We ask all peace loving Ghanaians to guard our democratic achievements.
