One of the country’s leading cocoa suppliers association Hyewohoden cocoa farmers association of the Kwahu Bepong in the Eastern Region, have threatened to stop the growing and supply of cocoa to the Produce Buying Company (PBC).

In an interview with NewsGhana’s Sammy Adjei, the secretary of the association Mr. S. E. Oppong, alleged that the local PBC clerk, Mr. John Amoa in connivance with one Mr. Kwapong who is the district office have deliberately tempered with the cocoa weighing scale, thereby making farmers loose about 7 kilograms on every 65kilo bag they bring to the center.

He added that, numerous attempts to resolve the matter have all proven futile since the PBC Clerk and his cohorts have put a blind eye and a deaf ear to the complains and suffering of the farmers.

The farmers in a bid to ensure that their work is fully paid by the PBC, therefore made a passionate appeal to government, the Ghana Cocoa Board and even the National Security to intervene and aid in investigating the matter to allow the right thing to be done or, they will decide to come into the matter to investigate for the right thing to be done.
