Chinese enterprises’ investment in Zambia has contributed to the economic growth of the country, a civic leader said on Sunday.

Christopher Kango’mbe, president of the Local Government Association of Zambia (LGAZ), said Chinese public and private firms have invested millions of dollars in Zambia.


The Chinese have invested in the Multi-Facility Economic Zones in Chambishi on the Copperbelt and the capital city, Lusaka, as well as in the mining industry, a major contributor to Zambia’s economic growth, he said.

“They are good investors,” Kango’mbe told Xinhua.

The LGAZ president, who is also Kitwe mayor, called for foreign investments in the country that will contribute effectively toward creation of jobs for the local people. Enditem
