The Very Reverend Dr. Sam Prempeh, former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), has urged the church to give voice and provide protection for the needy and the vulnerable.

He said the church should scale up its efforts at helping ?people with needs,? and do away with greed and give support to the poor.
Very Rev. Dr. Prempeh was speaking at the Annual General Meeting of the PCG?s Bible Study and Prayer Group (BSPG) in Kumasi.
It was on the theme: ?To be Filled with the Holy Spirit to Fulfill the Great Commission,? with a goal to take stock of the group?s activities and plan the way forward.
The Very Rev Dr. Prempeh condemned the rising incidence of corruption, the craze for wealth and nepotism, which, he said, were toxic to the health of society.
He warned that those evils posed serious danger to the peace, stability and security of the nation and that was why they should be fought on all fronts.
He reminded Christians to provide the needed leadership to promote discipline and restore some level of sanity.
Very Rev Dr. Prempeh encouraged the BSPG as the evangelical wing of the PCG to intensify the spread of the gospel to bring hope and salvation to the people.
?They have a charge to keep,? which they could not afford to fail, he added.
Rev Kofi Amfo Akonnor, Asante Presbytery Chairperson, said the church was determined to work hard to increase its membership by 10 per cent by the close of 2015.
“The clergy, together with the laity and all identifiable groups, are eager to make this happen,” he said.
He said they were going to roll out outreach programmes to win over more souls.
