Rev. Dr. Cyril G. K. Fayose, General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, has called on young Ghanaians to uphold the institution of marriage despite contemporary challenges.
Speaking on Akoma FM’s “Akoma Mu NS3M” program, the clergyman addressed growing skepticism toward marriage among Ghanaian youth, emphasizing its divine origin and cultural significance.
“Marriage remains God’s ordained institution for procreation and family formation,” stated Rev. Fayose, responding to concerns about failed marriages and modern lifestyle pressures. He acknowledged obstacles like career demands and educational pursuits but warned that abandoning matrimony risks eroding national identity. The Christian Council is countering these trends through its Family Life Education and Counseling program, which trains pastors and counselors to strengthen marital foundations.
While affirming that singleness isn’t sinful, Rev. Fayose highlighted marriage’s biblical and societal benefits, urging youth to pursue godly unions. His message comes as changing social norms and economic pressures reshape traditional attitudes toward marriage across Ghana.
