A truck carrying 122 students overturned in central Botswana, killing seven students.

accidentAfter the accident, the Chinese community and Chinese entrepreneurs in Botswana raised money through Charity Association of Chinese in Botswana (CACB) in order to support the families of the victims.

“We are Chinese but we stay in Botswana…We see ourselves as locals. When there is a problem like this, we feel the pain like anyone else,” said CACB president Miles Nan when making a donation worth 100,000 pula (about 10,000 U.S. dollars).

“We are here to help our brothers and sisters, we must all unite,” he said, adding that the Chinese community in Botswana hope the money will help the families overcome this difficult time.

Botswana Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Eric Molale expressed his gratitude to the association, saying the government appreciates the immediate response from Chinese people to the national call on assistance. Enditem
