A 28-year-old man, Chibuzor Nzeadibe, appeared before a Surulere Magistrates? Court in Lagos on Monday charged with manslaughter, dangerous driving and failure to stop after being involved in an accident.

Nzeadibe, a businessman, who resides at No. 265 Borno Way, Ebute-Meta, was docked for allegedly causing the death of a 16-year-old girl.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Philip Osijale, told the court that the accused, on December 22, 2012, caused the death of one Rukayat Jimoh, who was returning from a mosque.

He alleged that the incident took place at 06.45 p.m. along Bode Thomas Road, opposite Iponri Central Mosque, Surulere. Osijale told the court that the accused, after hitting the girl with his Honda Accord Saloon car with registration number BQ452KSF, did not stop.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 23, 27 and 28 of the Road Traffic Act. Nzeadibe, however, pleaded not guilty.

The magistrate, Joy Egbokha, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and She adjourned the case to February 13 for mention.
