The London club need to copy the template of Dortmund to conquer four-time European champions at the Allianz Arena on Saturday

There is no escaping this damning statistic – Bayern Munich have been beaten by Borrusia Dortmund in their last five meeting over two years – either home or away.

So there must be something that Dortmund know that can help Chelsea also defeat the four-time European champions.

Where the game can be won

The two teams have depleted squads with Chelsea missing John Terry and BranislavIvanovic while Bayern will be without David Alaba and HolgerBadstuber but that is not where the real battle lies – the real battle will be in central midfield.

Nigerian midfielder will have his hands full with either of Toni Kroos, Bastian Schweinsteiger as Frank Lampard will be hoping to make his customary runs into the Bayern box. There is a clever interplay between the Bayern midfielders and their wide men but it is safe to assume that there will be an overload on Chelsea’s right-back as Ashley Cole will be considered a harder nut to crack on the left side of Chelsea’s defence. For Chelsea, the target must be for Didier Drogba to get Jerome Boateng in one-on-one situations as Boateng has shown this season not to be a clever tackler and sometimes loses his concentration.

Bosingwa cannot be allowed to overlap as Franck Ribery will be at home against the not so defensive-minded Portuguese. Chelsea must resolve to play Salomon Kalou and Daniel Sturridge supporting. I chose Sturridge because of his unpredictability and the likelihood that he will be up against Diego Contento, who should fill in at left-back.

My gut feeling tells me that if Chelsea wear the white jersey they wore when they got that 2-2 draw against Barcelona, the match will end 1-0 in favour of the London-side. But do not quote me or bet on my prediction, I will not be liable but if any one wins a bet on this personal hunch, then my share must be sent to me.
