Cape Town ? Former Liberian leader Charles Taylor has expressed fears he could be attacked in a British prison, asking the court that convicted him to allow him to serve his 50-year sentence for war crimes in Rwanda, rather than the UK.

According to a BBC report Taylor said it would also be easier and less expensive for his family to visit him in Africa. The British government recently confirmed that Taylor will be transferred to a UK prison. Taylor was convicted of aiding rebels who committed atrocities in Sierra Leone during its civil war. (AFP)
