Chairman Afoko Claims NPP Is Not Ethnical

The Three Northern Region NPP Activists- body affiliated to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the Party at the headquarters in Accra. The members, led by Alhaji Awudu Sunrise came from all the ten regions of the country.
DSC_0449Receiving them at the Party offices, the Chairman of the party, Paul Afoko explained that at the inception of the Party majority of members were mostly of Northern extraction and the Zongo community when it was then known as United Party (UP) with 14 Seats for Northerners and 9 seats for Asante in parliament.
This meant S.K Dombo, who was the leader of the then Northern Peoples Party (NPP) was to be the leader in Parliament after the merger of his party, National Liberation Movement (NLM) led by Okyeame Baffour Akoto, the Transvolta Togo Land by S.G Anto and Anglo Youth Movement by Akpalo. But Dombo gave way to Dr K.A Busia to be the leader of the United Party (UP). And that was how come it has come to wrongly perceived as ethnically based.
Eventually Progress Party was formed and so the party?s genesis was full of Northerners until recently Afoko educated them. He was happy that they found time to call on them and as leaders of the group whatever they say will greatly influence their followers at the grassroots positively to vote massively for the party in the coming elections.
