Chad will send troops to help neighbouring Cameroon fight the Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram, Radio France Internationale reported Friday.Philippine troops

Chad’s parliament unanimously approved the decision, the report said.

Cameroon Communication Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary thanked Chad for the “fraternal gesture.”

It was not known how many troops would be sent or when.

Cameroon has faced constant attacks by Boko Haram, which crosses the border from Nigeria into the country’s Far North region. Cameroon has deployed more than 1,000 troops there.

Boko Haram, which wants to create an Islamist state, killed thousands of people in northern Nigeria last year alone.
