CAS Rejects Palmer

The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has rejected Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer’s application for a provisional and conservatory request to put an injunction on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential election.

The football administrator who is the bankroller of Tema Youth Football Club dragged the Normalization Committee of the GFA before CAS after he was disqualified from contesting the vacant presidential seat of the association.

With the election expected to come on today, Osei Palmer was praying CAS to provide provision measures that would have put an injunction on the exercise until the matter is fully exhausted for him to be reinstated in the race.

CAS through a letter dated Friday, October 25, 2019, has rejected Palmer’s request, giving the GFA Normalization Committee the go-ahead with today’s election.

A portion of the letter read, “The application for provisional and conservatory measures filed by Wilfred Kwaku Osei on 14 October 2019 in the matter of CAS 2019/A/6517 Wilfred Kwaku Osei vs Ghana Football Association is rejected.

“The costs of this Order shall be determined in the final award or any final disposition of this arbitration”.

The election is coming on today as expected at the Physicians and Surgeons Center in Accra.
