Professor Ransford Gyampo, CEO of the Shippers Authority and Media Coalition Against Galamsey member, has revealed ongoing resistance from political stalwarts targeting enforcement officials, calling for urgent presidential intervention.
The Ghana Coalition Against Galamsey maintains pressure on authorities, with Convenor Kenneth Ashigbey insisting on revoking Legislative Instrument 2462 permitting forest reserve mining.
Civil society leader Senyo Hosi warned that political elites from both NDC and NPP continue profiting from galamsey while leaving citizens to suffer environmental consequences.
These developments come as environmental degradation from illegal mining threatens Ghana’s water security and agricultural sustainability, with activists urging citizens to hold leaders accountable.
