During a ceremony held over the weekend at the National Heros Memorial Place in Ouagadougou, the martyrs were made Knights of the National Order and heros of the nation, but representatives of the victims equally demanded justice for the martyrs.
“We are willing to go for national reconciliation, but on two conditions. First, we need truth and justice. And then, forgiveness. Yes, we are ready to forgive, but this should be done within the context of truth and transparency,” the representative of the families of victims Babou Bamouni said.
“Believe me, justice will be delivered,” Transition President Michel Kafando said, adding that “we shall never forget you, Burkina Faso will never forget you.”
Kafando further announced that a day to remember the martyrs each year will be institutionalized. Enditem
