Burkina Faso has obtained 8,000 billion CFA Francs (about 13 billion U.S. dollars) financing commitments for national development plan (PNDES) on the first day of partners conference in Paris, France, source in Ouagadougou on Thursday said.

This represents 150 percent coverage achievement for the shortfall financing sought for the 2016-2020 National Plan for Economic and Social Development (PNDES) of the country, the source said.

Governmental Information Service, here in Ouagadougou on Thursday, disclosed the success recorded on the first day of the Paris conference that Roch Marc Christian Kabore, the president of Burkina Faso, personally chaired.

The conference is purposed to mobilize a shortfall to the tune of 5,800 billion CFA Francs, about 9.58 billion U.S. dollars, for the plan.

During opening ceremony of the conference, President Christian Kabore has ensured that his country is holding out the prospect to reduce poverty of people in Burkina Faso through the implementation of the PNDES.

PNDES is purposed to reach a strong annual growth averaging 8 percent and the reduction from 40 percent to 30 percent of the incidence of poverty by 2020 in the West African country.

About 83 projects relating to agriculture, health, energy, road infrastructures, communications and housing were to be presented to technical and financial partners as well as to donors during the conference. Enditem
