“The economy is expected to grow at 5.2 percent in 2016, whereas in 2015 it was 4.2 percent. This is not enough, but given the shocks we suffered, we consider this a good economic performance,” Economy Minister Hadizatou Rosine Coulibaly-Sori said when she addressed the press on Tuesday.

“This means that Burkina Faso’s economy has potential to rebound and if normalcy is restored, we can achieve a 6 to 7 percent growth,” the minister added.

She said by March 31, 2016, revenue authorities had mobilized 272 billion CFA Francs (over 473 million U.S. dollars) against a target of 247 billion CFA Francs. This increase in revenue collection was 109.78 percent higher compared to the same period last year. Enditem
