Bureau for Internal Affairs Demands Justice

The Bureau for Internal Affairs (BIA), is calling on the Defence Minister and the Military Command to investigate an incident involving armed men dressed in military uniform to attack people in Prampram.

The gang aboard a vehicle with registration number 44GA48 allegedly attacked their victims from Dawhenya, who were having fun at the Prampram beach with friends.

A statement issued by Mr Godfred Nkrumah, the Coordinating Director of the Bureau, a centre for intelligence gathering on the concerns of the public, alleged that the attack was related to a land dispute between Adden-Darpoh Royal Family and the Miotso community.

He said the assault, which had been reported to the Prampram Police indicated that a man identified to be a citizen of Miotso led the soldiers to point out the victims.

Recently two persons at Miotso were killed over the land dispute.

The BIA said the dispute was sent to the Supreme Court and judgement was given in favour of the Dawhenya community.

It claimed that investigations carried by the BIA revealed that land guards from Miotso numbering about 20 and armed with Ak-47 rifles attacked Dahwenya with bulldozers to demolish properties amidst the firing of warning shots.

The police were called in and with the support of the youth managed to arrest some of the land guards and the guns, which led to the death of the two persons.

The statement said hiring of security personnel to harass people over lands was becoming rampant hence the need for the Military Command to stop the act immediately.
