Artist manager Bulldog has predicted that rising star Black Sherif will clinch the Artiste of the Year award at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), declaring it “his year” during an interview on Accra-based United Television.
He further suggested that Stonebwoy, a previous winner, faces stiff competition from younger artists and may not reclaim the title soon.
“Next year is Black Sherif’s year. Record this as evidence,” Bulldog asserted, emphasizing the latter’s growing influence in Ghana’s music industry. He also critiqued Stonebwoy’s recent campaigns, stating, “The [campaign] target was a spiritual person, and Stonebwoy knew he had lost. His PR gave false hope, but the signs were clear.” Bulldog added that Stonebwoy could face repeated losses in subsequent years due to the “hard work” of emerging talents.
The comments follow Stonebwoy’s win at the 2024 TGMA amid intense public debate. Black Sherif, known for hits like Kwaku the Traveller, has steadily gained acclaim for his lyrical depth and genre-blending style, positioning him as a frontrunner in future competitions.
Analysts note that Bulldog’s prediction reflects broader trends in Ghana’s dynamic music scene, where younger artists increasingly challenge established stars. The TGMA, a key barometer of industry success, continues to spotlight evolving tastes and the competitive drive shaping the nation’s cultural exports.
