Hamburg SV boss Bruno Labbadia fell on Ghanaian starlet Gideon Jung to make up his first team squad after injury hit his midfield for their Bundesliga game with TSG Hoffenheim on Friday evening.

The gifted 21-year-old returned to the Hamburg first team squad for the first team since matchday three of the Bundesliga but he was unused as he watched the entire game from the substitute bench.

But the youngster who was born to Ghanaian parents in Germany watched the entire game from the Hamburg bench as Pierre-Michel Lasogga scored an 88th minute goal to win the tie for the visitors.

Jung began the season on a fine note but was asked to return to the Hamburg U23 team despite criticism from fans.

He has featured in three games for the Hamburg U23 side since returning to the side.

Germany U21 trainer handed him a call-up but he missed the Euro U21 qualifiers he was invited for due to injury problems.
