Last December, the airline launched a new menu for the same route, which featured popular local dishes such as Waakye, Spicy chicken stew, Jollof rice, and Kelewele, in response to passenger feedback.

British Airways’ Ghana Commercial Manager, Mr. Kevin Leung, said that the idea had been very successful, and the menus are rotated every month to ensure that passengers enjoy a varied range of local Ghanaian and Western dishes.

“We are not making major changes to the menus – we are rather improving upon how and when the meals are served, and our passengers will have a lot of good things to look out for,” explains Leung. “For example, we understand that the Accra flight departs late at night and many people will prefer to maximise their sleep, rather than eat a full three-course meal, so we have introduced the Goodnight Service.”

The new Goodnight Service is a one-tray service that will see the starter salad replaced by desert, with additional cheese on request, and replaces the main course salad option with three choices of hot entrées, which are more appropriate for the late departure time.

British Airways is also introducing new champagne in Club World, Henriot Brut, bringing to three the number of champagnes on offer to its Business Class customers. The Club Kitchen service will also feature new premium British brands, and later in the year the airline is planning to refresh its china dishes within the cabin.

In the First Class cabin, BA will also remove the Bistro snack options, and change to five entrees on the menu. The a la carte service will however remain.

Kevin Leung says British Airwayscontinues to look for opportunities to improve its customers’ experience, as the airline is known for innovation and best value for money. “British Airways is the oldest commercial passenger airline operating in Ghana, and a lot is expected of us. For nearly 80 years, our customers here have stayed with us for the simple reason that we have been committed to listening to them and serving their needs. The future is indeed very bright for us both.”
