Bidvest Wits defender Brad Philips has undergone post season surgery to fix up his hernia.

The defender, who missed half of last season due to a long term injury suffered in pre-season, has undergone a sportsman hernia surgery and should be fit for pre-season training on June 25 when the Clever Boys reassemble to prepare for the 2013/14 campaign.

Phillips has had an injury ravaged 12 months. The player did not feature in any of his side?s competitive matches last season despite being available for the second half of the season. He was a constant member of the Wits team that did duty in Reserve League on Mondays.

Phillips is a product of the Wits academy but maybe deemed surplus to requirements by new coach Gavin Hunt as he has not kicked a ball in a competitive match since the days of Roger De Sa at the club.
