bomb blast

In a statement, the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU), a private school based in Quezon City, Metro Manila, said a bomb threat was received by the university at around 8:30 a.m. local time.

AdMU said its security office immediately requested the the Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Quezon City Police Station 9 bomb squads to send units to sweep the grounds and buildings of the university.

All the buildings were evacuated and classes in all levels were cancelled, it said.

Authorities declared the campus safe after a thorough inspection.

The bomb threat came as Philippine security agencies have been on heightened alert following the deadly terrorist attacks in Brussels last week. Endit
