Scores of people have been reported dead, after a bomb went off at another Nyanya park, situated some hundred kilometres across the Abuja-Keffi highway facing the popular El-Rufai Park, where a similar incident occurred a week before Easter Monday.

Although the target is not known, it is, however, perceived that the perpetrators were after those, who went out to witness the 2014 May Day event at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

The area is usually populated with people coming back from various places of work and business, okada riders and roadside traders.

It was alleged that the bomb was packed load in a car that parked directly opposite the park.

It is usually crowded along the road from the mosque that is situated opposite an NNPC filling station to a Keffi Park, a few metres after the overhead bridge in the evenings.

This situation is responsible for the heavy traffic that sometimes stretches to as far as Mogadishu Barracks (popularly known as Abacha Barracks) and even AYA Roundabout.

It is not clear how many vehicles that were affected by the bomb explosion, but men of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) were seen to be putting off fire caused by the blast.

Meanwhile, there are reports that three unexploded bombs were detected and defused by operatives of the security joint forces, comprising of police, army, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) etc.

Bomb detection equipment was also seen being brought in by the security operatives, who have cordoned off the area.

The latest blast may be a big blow to a planned Nigerian Economic Forum scheduled for Abuja next week.

But President Goodluck Jonathan, who visited the scene of the first blast on Monday, April 14, said that the issue of Boko Haram was temporary, and promised that government would continue to work hard to curtail it.

Jonathan, who commended the security services for their prompt action, said: ?Though we lost quite a number of people, we condole with our country men and women. Government is doing everything possible to make sure that we move our country forward, in spite of all the distractions that want to take us backward. We promise that we will get over it. The security services will continue to work very hard. God willing, we will get over it.?
