Mortuary activities at the Regional hospital in Bolgatanga on Friday resumed full operations after a three-day strike action by the Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG).

When the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the morgue at about 1600hours, bereaved families had gathered at the premises to convey their dead relatives for burial.

The situation was however different when the GNA visited the facility on Tuesday morning to ascertain the impact of the strike action by the MOWAG over their grievances.

Mr Zakaria Yakubu, the Head of Administration at the Regional Hospital, confirmed the resumption of operations of the morgue to the GNA.

He described as unbearable the impact of the strike action, and said “If you are on admission on the ward and a patient next to you dies and left on the ward for hours, you can imagine the discomfort that it would create for you and the rest of the patients who are alive. So, we are happy they called off the strike.”
