According to the village head, Mallam Zakari, in a telephone conversation yesterday in Maiduguri; ?the Boko Haram insurgents riding about 50 motorcycles attacked Alkideow village near our village, Mbuta as early as 4.30 am but failed in taking away (stealing ) their cows, after killing nine people, before proceeding
to Mbuta village by 7.20 am and set several houses and shops ablaze.

?When the BOKO Haram gunmen burst into my village, they started shooting sporadically at any person they sight. Our houses and shops were not spared, as they killed 11 of my people here, including the burning to
death two old women, who were in their huts, before the early morning attack on us,? said Zakari yesterday.
?The bodies of the killed villagers are scattered in the outskirts of Mbuta, as they attempted to flee their houses, while the BOKO haram gunmen continued to pursue them into the bush,? Zakari added.
On the fleeing villagers, he said: ?Two of my people escaped to Maiduguri with gunshot wounds, while other surviving villagers fled into the bush; and the BOKO haram terrorists are still hunting for them, after they
burnt down many of their houses.?

It was also gathered that two hours after the attack, soldiers and some members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) stationed at Zabarmari rushed to the village, but the BOKO haram gunmen had fled on their
motorcycles towards the Mafa-Dikwa border areas with Cameroon Republic. The Borno state police command yesterday also said that there were attacks on the outskirts of Maiduguri where some villagers were feared
killed in the early hours of Thursday but no detailed report and confirmation yet as at time of going to press.
