If you?ve been a graphic artist all your working life, having macular degeneration is a real bastard. That?s what happened to typographer Hal ?Grandpa? Lasko. However, his flair for visual art was not snuffed out by the condition, despite it having caused blindness in the center of his vision. Grandpa, 97, put down the brushes and picked up Microsoft Paint with which he painstakingly creates his works pixel by infuriatingly fiddly pixel. ?If it takes me two years to do that, I can spend it,? he says. ?I got a lot of patience.?
