The police in Lagos on Monday arraigned a 20-year-old housekeeper, Blessing Adeyemi, before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court for alleged theft of jewellery valued at N2.5million.

The Prosecutor, Emmanuel Ajayi, said Adeyemi, who was living with her employer at Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, was facing a one-count charge of stealing. He said that the teenager committed the offence while serving as a housekeeper to Modupe Fashina.

“Fashina discovered that her jewellery was missing when she returned from work. She reported the case to the police which led to the housekeeper’s arrest,?? Ajayi told the court.

He said that the offence was committed on January 22, at No. 13, Adebayo Doherty St., Lekki Phase 1, adding that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty of the offence.

The Magistrate, O.O. Famobimo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to February 7 for mention.
