wpid-blackstars-300x187.jpgThe Ghana Football Association has allocated an amount of $30,000 in the World Cup 2014 budget to be used in purchasing local foodstuffs to feed the Black Stars during the month-long tournament, Ghanasportsonline.com can reveal.

The amount, itemized in the budget will be used to buy tons of local ingredients and foodstuffs such as corn mill, cassava paste, tomatoes, bush meat, smoked fish and other kitchenware and be used to prepare meals for the Black Stars.

Presenting the budget to the cabinet yesterday at the Flagstaff House, the Ghana Football Association members explained that the Black Star players had in the past grumbled about the kind of meals they were served during tournaments and had requested for local chefs to be included on the teams? travels.

The figure which was previously fixed at $50,000 raised a lot of eyebrows during the presentation and was subsequently cut down to $30,000 upon the insistence of the presidency, Ghanasportsonline.com understands.

Speaking to the issue, ace Sports broadcaster Kwabena Yeboah told Ghanasportsonline.com ?indeed that item is in the budget and we can only question the quantum allocated for it because I?m privy to this issue that the players in the past have complained bitterly about the kind of meals they are served during tournaments and this current FA has resolved that problem by sending chefs with the team anywhere they travel to prepare and serve local meals?.

The Ministry will review the budget after its presentation before forwarding it to the Presidency ? where a joint Ministry and Ghana FA team will be summoned to put up a defense ? before final approval.

Ghana campaign in Brazil will be the more expensive of the two previous tournaments the Black Stars have participated in.
