She suggested that they worked towards a diversified and commercially-oriented agricultural sector with strong linkages with processing, industrial and market sectors.

This way, they would be generating employment for the youth and reduce rural poverty.

Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu was performing the ceremony to inaugurate the Afigya-Kwabre District Assembly at Kodie.

She again asked that they considered revenue generation as an important function and to become less dependent on the Common Fund and other releases from the central government.

She noted that property rate collection was one area, which given the appropriate attention could substantially strengthen their finances.

The former Minister also spoke of the need for them to aggressively fight the increasing degradation of the environment through illegal mining, logging and wildfires.

What they should do was to rigidly enforce the laws to protect the environment.

Mrs. Mould-Iddrisu encouraged the members to work hard together with the common goal of bringing development to the people.

That required making it their duty to demand accountability of themselves and the management of the assembly.

She counseled them to maintain close contacts with their electoral areas – consult the people on issues and collate their views for presentation to the assembly.

They should also have due regard to the national interest and work for the public good.

The 64-member later elected Mr. Anthony Oteng, Elected Assembly Member for Danase Electoral Area as its Presiding Member (PM).
