Former Ghana star Bernard Don Bortey has rued his one-year ban

Aduana Stars Winger Don Bortey Rues Ghana Premier League Ban

Former Ghana youth star Bernard Don Bortey has admitted his 12-month ban by the Ghana Football Association scampered his Black Stars return plans.

The 30-year-old was slapped with a year ban for assaulting a match official during a Ghanaian FA Cup tie between Aduana Stars and King Solomon two seasons ago.

Bortey, 3-time Ghana Premier League winner with Hearts of Oak, had set a target to stage a return to the Ghana national team but was hit with the ban with just under half of the season underway.

He admits he was disappointed by the ban because it backtracked his ambitions.

?What happened to me (suspension) is bad because I had targeted Black Stars return and I was in good form,? he told told Accra-based Live FM.

The 1999 Ghana FIFA U17 World Cup bronze medal winner has scored nine times in 27 appearances for Ghana.
