Thousands of Belarusians took to the streets in many cities on Sunday to protest against a tax on unemployed people, local media reported.

The latest protests were held in provincial towns, including Bobruisk, Orsha, Brest and Rog o chev. A total of about several thousand people took part in these rallies, the report said.

On friday and Saturday, thousands of people also held rallies in Pinsk and Molodechno.

Starting from February, hundreds of people came to protest against the decree, which was signed by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in April 2015.

The decree require Belarusians who don’t work for more than 183 days a year to pay the tax in the amount of about 240 U.S. dollars.

Last week Lukashenko suspended the collection of this tax till next year. He said the decree will be adjusted this month. Enditem
