Ryan Giggs, Craig Bellamy and Micah Richards are the three over-aged players chosen

England midfielder has expressed his disappoint over his non-inclusion in Britain’s Olympic soccer squad.
Beckham, who currently plies his trade with Los Angeles Galaxy, was expected to be named as one of the three over-age players in Stuart Pearce’s Under-23 squad for the London Games in July and August.
Speaking in a statement released by his spokesman, the 37-year-old said: “Everyone knows how much playing for my country has always meant to me, so I would have been honoured to have been part of this unique Team GB squad.”
“Naturally I am very disappointed, but there will be no bigger supporter of the team than me. And like everyone, I will be hoping they can win the gold.”
“As a Londoner I was really proud to have played a small part in bringing the Olympics to my home town as part of Seb’s [Coe] team and I can’t wait for the Games to begin and will enjoy every moment along with the rest of Great Britain.”
The three over-aged players chosen include: Manchester United’s long-serving Welsh winger Ryan Giggs, Wales striker Craig Bellamy and Manchester City right back Micah Richards.
Beckham was England’s most capped outfield player with 115 appearances and has had a major role both in London winning the Olympics and in the build-up to the Games, helping bring the flame back from Greece.
