Dr. H. Wemah, Chairman of the Northern Development forum (NDF) has once again appealed to the sons and daughters of Northern Ghana and Ghanaians in general to be open-minded about the way-forward about the Savannah Accelerated Development Agency (Sada) as there is a new management team in place.
He said with this new management team in place he was confident that the fortunes of the SADA will change for the essence for which it was established. He therefore called on all northern brothers and sisters not to allow SADA to collapse or ?throw the baby with the bath? . People should not only discard the alien notion about Sada but change their attitude towards it he added.
Dr. Wemah made these observations during NDF?s monthly meeting in Accra over the weekend.
Peace in Northern Ghana
Dr. Wemah bemoaned the lack of lasting peace in the regions which is necessary if the progress of the savannah woodland is to be harnessed, urging that it was important that ?we sit and solve our problems?. He explained how land issues have become so contentious all over and ? land is never sold but rather leased?.
Contributing, ACP Awuni Angwubutoge, in charge of MTTU entreated NDF to play a critical role in this direction which is contributing to poverty in the region. Citing the Bolgatanga chieftaincy disturbance last week?s, sons and daughters are called upon to get involved to cool tempers.
Investment forum
In collaboration with Engineers Week to be organized in March, Sada will be hosting a public forum to showcase the investment opportunities of the catchment areas. ?The investment potentials of the Sada will be available for any interested person to buy into?. Charles Abugri CEO explained.
Members were told to get involved in the forth-coming investment forum where ?Ghana Commercial Agricultural Partnership (GCAP) program will be launched.
NDF, a development oriented organization interested in mobilizing the human resources from the Northern Ghana to put their should to the wheel for development. To this effect, NDF is urging all to visit home and participate in the event. The leadership of NDF intends to organize this year?s Family Fun Day as it did last year. NRGI seeks a full-time Media Capacity Development Associate preferably to be based in Accra, Ghana.
Reporting to the Program Officer for Media Capacity Development, the Program Associate will provide administrative and programmatic support to the management and implementation of media project activities with primary, but not exclusive, focus on programming in selected Anglophone African countries. These include Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Country-level activities are primarily implemented by local partners, with guidance and support from NRGI. Working in tandem with the Program Officer, the Associate will ensure close coordination with partners to harmonize planning and monitor activities against agreed work plans and budgets. He/she will support efforts to evaluate progress as well as to document and facilitate the sharing of lessons, experiences, and practices across countries.
The media program is designed to be responsive to the changing and emerging needs of and challenges facing journalists, the media industry, and the extractive sector. The position will therefore require familiarity with the African media landscape and competence in basic research and analytical skills to be able to discern and document trends in media coverage of oil, gas and minerals and extractive journalism generally.
