The 2012 Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on Wednesday received a rousing welcome in the Sene Constituency when he visited various parts of the constituency to interact with the Chiefs and people of the constituency and to campaign for the votes of the electorate of the constituency come December.

The Sene Constituency, which is one of the NDC?s perceived world banks in the Brong Ahafo region, went agog when Dr. Bawumia and his team arrived with market women, youth and elders of the communities cheering the Running Mate to Nana Akufo-Addo, amidst chants of ?Free Education, Free Education.?

Dr. Bawumia kicked off the tour of the constituency with a stop at Baantama where he paid a courtesy call on the chief of the community. He appealed to the chiefs and people of the community to throw their weight behind the NPP Presidential ticket and its Parliamentary candidate, Mohammed Blinyi, as the NPP has the policies and programmes to transform the lives of the constituents positively.

From Baantama, the team encountered several road blockades organized by residents of the communities the team passed through, which forced the NPP Running Mate to address the already huge crowds which had gathered by the time the team arrived there.

Upon arrival at Nketiahkrom, the Chief of the community, after clearly being impressed by Dr. Bawumia?s words, said ?everyone wants to be with the good team and we the people of Nketiahkrom have truly seen from the works of some past and current governments and from your statements and policies, where truth and goodness is. Therefore, I can assure you that we would not make a mistake in December, we would vote for a Party that would relieve our burdens in relation to educating our children and our farming.?

Dr. Bawumia in addressing the chiefs and people of Kojokrom noted that governments are not elected to pile on hardships as was currently the case. He mentioned that if the people of Ghana, at any time, found themselves under a government which was not working in their interests, it was their civic responsibility to vote out such a government and elect a government which was committed to improving the lives of the people.

The team arrived at Kwame Danso, the largest town in the constituency, a few minutes before midnight and was met by a large crowd who had defied darkness, sleep and the heavy rains to wait for Dr Bawumia.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, speaking to the people of Kwame Danso, thanked them for demonstrating their willingness to see change by turn up to listen to the message of hope. He indicated that the Nana Akufo-Addo was very committed to seeing Ghana develop and take its rightful place among the community of nations. He said that this zeal was the basis of the pledge of Nana Akufo-Addo to make SHS free.

?To develop, Ghana must reap the necessary benefits from the talents in each individual and these talents can best and only be harnessed when the person is educated. That is why it is critical that monetary considerations be eliminated from education because if money becomes a barrier, it would mean that only the children of the rich can receive appropriate education and that shouldn?t be the case especially in a country where the poor outnumber the rich,? Dr Bawumia said.
