Mr Richard Appiah Otoo, President of Rotary Club of Accra Legon East, says the collective desire of the advancement of education is the surest bet to the future protection against poverty of ideas and impoverishment.

He said education is the bedrock of the country?s human resource, economical, health and social development.

Mr Otoo was speaking at the handing over ceremony of a fully furnished library stock with books at the value of GH?30,000 by the Rotary Club to the Adjirigano M.A Basic School in the Adenta Municipality in Accra on Saturday.

The funds for the project were raised from the generous contribution of members of the club, friends and some corporate bodies.

He said African Mining Services has provided 33 office desks and more than 40 office chairs to the school.

Mr Otoo said the club would provide the necessary support to the school to be on top of the age of technology.

There was groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a toilet facility for the school while the Interact; an affiliate of the Club, at the Ghana International School donated a water tank to the academic facility.

Mrs Kate Adjie, Headmistress of the school said since the establishment of the school more than 30 years ago, it has never had a library.

She said the school has chalk out a lot of successes, including winning the best sanitation school in the municipality.

Mrs Zenabu Faalong, Deputy Director, Finance and Administration at the Municipal Education Office said the library would act as a beneficial source to the students and call on other organisations to come to the aid of the school with more amenities.

Mr Edward Opoku, Deputy Director of Administration at the Municipal Assembly on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive said the assembly this year has distributed 1,500 desks to schools in the area.

The Rotary Club of Accra Legon East was established on June 4, 2012 to provide humanitarian services to communities they operate in.
