The Omanhene of Gwira Traditional Area in the Western Region, Awulae Angama Tu-Agyan II, has appealed to COCOBOD to make the traditional area a cocoa district in view of the amount of cocoa produced there.

He said when the area is recognized as a cocoa district, the students in the area would also benefit from the cocoa scholarship scheme that would enable more students to pursue higher education.

Awulae Angama Tu-Agyan made the appeal at a sod-cutting ceremony for a Community Senior High School at Bamianko in the Nzema East Municipality.

He appealed to the Assembly to provide cocoa sheds to support the storage of cocoa and facilitate business transaction among cocoa farmers, cocoa purchasing clerks and cocoa buying companies.

Awulae Angama Tu-Agyan said bad roads was hampering transportation of goods and food stuffs to other market centres and appealed to the government to construct a bridge over Ankobra River to facilitate transportation.

The Member of Parliament for Evalue/Gwira/Ajomoro, Mr. Kwesi Tenekyi-Kese, appealed to the people to patronize the school and refrain from partisan politics.

He said: ?When the school is completed it belongs to everybody in the community irrespective of one?s political affiliation and should therefore not tag it as NDC or NPP Senior High School?.

The outgoing Western Regional Minister, Mr. Ebenezer Kwadwo Teye Addo, performed the sod-cutting of the Community SHS which would be completed in August next year. GNA
