The 7th National Fire Management Conference scheduled for May 14 to 16 in Maun, North West District of Botswana is expected to attract international officials among them Australia.

About 200 participants, 120 of whom are locals, are expected to attend the event organized by the Department of Forestry and Range Resources.


A press release from Botswana’s Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, Conservation and Tourism states that the conferences is a platform to share information on better development and implementation of fire management strategies.

Botswana and Australia had signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of fire and disaster management last year. The Australian government also donated six fire-fighting trucks and protective clothing to Botswana in 2018. Enditem
