DHAKA — Devastating landslides caused by heavy rains hit many houses in Bangladesh’s southeastern hilly district Bandarban early Saturday, leaving at least six people dead.


A police official in Bandarban district, some 316 km southeast of capital Dhaka, told Xinhua over phone, “six people were killed and several others injured in the incidence of rain-triggered landslides early Saturday.” (Bangladesh-Landslides)

YANGON — Myanmar’s opposition National League for Democracy, led by Aung San Suu Kyi, Saturday nominated 792 people to contest in almost all constituencies at various levels of the parliament in the forthcoming multi-party general election scheduled for Nov. 8.
The party released the nominees’ list for seven states and four regions, while leaving nominees for some regions to be announced soon.

ADEN, Yemen — Exiled Yemeni Prime Minister Khaled Bahah arrived in the country’s southern port city of Aden on Saturday, as the pro-government forces were on the momentum to retake key cities in the south.
Bahah, who is also the vice president, and six ministers of the exiled government landed in the Aden International Airport by a Saudi plane, with protection of soldiers of the Saudi-led coalition on Saturday, sources at the airport told Xinhua. (Yemen-PM)

KABUL — The Afghan Taliban on Saturday released an audio tape of Mullah Mohammad Akhtar Mansoor, who was elected as the new leader of the insurgent group earlier this week.
The half an hour Mansoor’s audio statement was sent to local media by Zabiullah Mujahid, a Taliban purported spokesman, who said the statement was delivered by Mansoor during an allegiance meeting held on Thursday. (Afghanistan-Taliban-New Leader)

PARIS — The probable MH370 debris, to be transferred and analyzed in Toulouse, arrived in Paris Saturday morning through an Air France flight, confirmed the Paris airport.
Air France flight 671 left Saint-Denis Friday night at 21:15 local time with the probable wreckage of the MH370 flight, and it landed Saturday morning at Paris Orly airport. (France-MH370) Enditem
