Breman Asikuma (C/R), March 30, GNA – The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Assembly, has within the past three years undertaken 187 development projects, to promote education and improve the standards of living of the people.

These include the construction of school blocks , health facilities, culverts, foot bridges, accommodation for Area Council offices and rehabilitation of roads.

The District Chief Executive, Madam Georgina Nkrumah Aboah, who made these known at the Assembly sitting at Breman Asikuma on Wednesday, said the projects were financed with money from the GETFund, Social Investment Fund and the District Assembly Common fund.

She said most of the projects had been completed while the rest were 98 percent complete.

Madam Aboah said the District has qualified for the 2012 FOAT Exercise with a percentage score of 87 percent, and urged members of the Assembly to work harder.

Madam Aboah said the Assembly as at the end of February 2012, collected Ghc 44,094.68 of its targeted Internal Generated Fund of 309,485.00 for the year.

She appealed to the Assembly Members to work assiduously so that the Assembly could generate more funds for development.

Madam Aboah appealed to Ghanaians who have attained 18 years and above to register in the on-going biometric voters’ registration exercises to enable them to vote in Election 2012.

The Presiding Member of the Assembly, Mr Anthony Kobina Amoako, appealed to the people to desist from insulting government officials.

He cautioned that any Assembly Member found indulging in active politics would be made to appear before the Public Relation and Complaints Sub-committee.

Mr Amoako appealed to the people to pay their taxes regularly and promptly so that Government could initiate more development projects.
