Malik Akowuah was prevented from training with his Ashantigold teammates

Midfielder Malik Akowuah was prevented from training with his Ashantigold teammates on Tuesday, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.

The 23-year-old returned to Obuasi on Tuesday morning after leaving camp without permission.

The former Ghana Undr-23 enforcer, who is believed to have signed a two-year pre-contract with Medeama, was prevented from training with the side.

Officials of the miners are livid with the attitude shown by the player and have threatened to report the conduct of Medeama to the Ghana FA for making an illegal approach.

?I came to training and was told I could not train with my colleagues but rather handed a letter,? Akowuah said

?I don?t know the content of the letter at the moment but will make it public when I read it.? he claimed

Akowuah is still contracted to Ashantigold till the end of the current campaign and will therefore face disciplinary action for his unprofessional behaviour.

The Obuasi-based club are believed not to be interested in extending his contract any longer but will punish him before allowing him to go.
