2013 CAF Confederation Cup - ASEC out of the Confederation Cup

ASEC have been sent out of the Confederation Cup by LLB Academic on Saturday in Bujumbura, after a penalty shoot-out.

After having won the first leg 1-0 in Abidjan, the Ivoirians fell on the same mark in Burundi, forcing the two outfits to fight for their survival in the competition from the penalty spot.

And it was the locals who handled the pressure the best, with Gautier Koffi and Yacoumba Bamba missing their attempt.

ASEC could have scored early in the game by Boua Koffi Davy, but LLB Academic managed to take the lead in the 38th minute through midfielder Christophe Nduwarugira.

The Ivoirians were unable to come back despite enjoying most of the possession, against a very defensive squad which looked happy to settle with this one-goal advantage.

Siaka Traore?s men can have a lot of regrets regarding all the missed opportunities during the first leg, and will have to concentrate now on the national competitions to be able to shine this season.
