Asanko Gold has increased gold production between 100,000 to 150,000 ounces from the previous 90,000 to 100,000 ounces in the second half of 2016.

The company, in a statement attributed the increase to minor operational improvements made during the second-quarter of this year to optimise the processing facility which has resulted in the mills performing in excess of their original design capacity.

The mine declared commercial production on April 1, 2016 and reached steady state operations during the second-quarter with production hitting over 34,000 in July and August 2016.

The company said the solid performance had given it the confidence to increase guidance for the second half of the year.
